Podiatry is the assessment, diagnosis and management of the foot and lower limb related problems and the term Podiatry is now replacing chiropody. Podiatrists are trained to treat the foot and lower limb and to treat conditions such as corns, callus, bunions, athlete's foot, Ingrowing toenails pain in feet and joints, biomechanical problems.

The podiatrist is trained to assess patients with diabetes rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic illnesses and is also qualified in the administration of local anaesthetic and minor surgery involving the removal of nails.
